Resident Evil (also originally known as: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccon City) is a film in development belonging to the genre of horror of American survival-German directed by Johannes Roberts and written by Roberts and Greg Russo. In the same month, it was announced that WAN would produce the restart with a Greg Russo script. In December 2018, Roberts was hired as a writer and director and Wan left the project. Roberts told Screen Rant that the restart would be super, super terrifying and more faithful to videogames. The shoot began on October 17, 2020 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Resident Evil is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 24, 2021 by Sony Pictures Releasing.
