Resident Evil (also originally known as: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccon City) is a film in development belonging to the genre of horror of American survival-German directed by Johannes Roberts and written by Roberts and Greg Russo. Serving as a reboot of the resident Evil movie series, which is based on the video game series of the same name, the film is starring Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Abell, Hannah John-Kamen, Avan Jogia, Tom Hopper, Lily Gao, Neal McDonough, and Donal Logue. According to Roberts, it will be a story of origin, set in 1998, and is based on elements of the first and second game.
The development took place at the beginning of 2017, after the launch of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and producer James Wan expressed interest in the project. Later, the president of Constantin, Martin Moszkowicz, said a reboot of the series of films was being developed. In the same month, it was announced that WAN would produce the restart with a Greg Russo script. In December 2018, Roberts was hired as a writer and director and Wan left the project. Roberts told Screen Rant that the restart would be super, super terrifying and more faithful to videogames. The shoot began on October 17, 2020 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Resident Evil is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 24, 2021 by Sony Pictures Releasing.
Steamforged Games is currently developing in cooperation with Capcom at Resident Evil: The Board Game. The company has already worked on other board games, such as Resident Evil 2/3: The Board Game, Monster Hunter World: The Board Game, Dark Souls: The Board Game, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game and Devil May Cry: The Bloody Palace.
So far, 4,597 supporters financed the project with 886,570 euros, which is closed in 14 days. The desired amount of 118,441 euros has long been achieved.

According to Steamforged Games, Resident Evil: The Board Game is expected to be sent to the supporters in March 2023.
