As the asymmetric multiplayer genre grows, terror remains the best field to choose from. From VIERNES 13 and dedador for cazafasmas and the massacre of the Types chainsaw,These games are so abundant now that when you consider their frequency with the doubtful nature of the adaptations of the film to matching, there are reasons to be skeptical of any new release. That is why it is so surprising, then, that _evil dead: the game turned out to be not only a competent asymmetric game, but also a completely funny one.
For those who are not familiar with this type of game, "asymmetric" simply means that the teams are not only unequal in this case, but that the two teams at play have very different resources at their disposal. A group plays as Kandarian Demon and uses portals, traps and other skills to generate and control deadites while scaring and kills survivors. The survivors, on the other hand, play as a team of four people who must look for weapons and Shemp’s Cola to complete the objectives that banish the demon before time is exhausted.
Move through the map while there are trees and survivors and traps are placed naturally it sounds more fun than playing as a human, and in most other games created in this 4V1 style or similar formats, that is true. However, Evil Dead: The game First, it stands out when converting the survivors team into a formidable and shocking force to take into account.
He manages to extract from different films and spin-offs of Evil Dead with multiple characters (and many variants of Ash Williams) divided into different classes and that have unique skills. Of course, some are obviously more powerful than others who will probably need equilibrium settings, but each survivor can lift an ax and cut the head of a deadite regardless of his specialty. Survivors are not exactly tanks, but they don't get behind, and even the most agitated fights seem to win with a little coordination.
That does not mean that the demon is not a trip to play, but its objectives require a little more luck and planning compared to those of the survivors. When the game was released for the first time, the survivors tried to plan their actions while the demon had one goal: to kill the other team. The single -person demon team could prosper in this chaos, but as the survivors organized more, the demon's work became more difficult. The demons have to manage their energy levels and level their skills while the demonic narrator shouts that the survivors complete another objective. The roof for more rewarding moments seems much higher for demons, but so is the pressure to make the game pleasant for everyone.
Once again, that is not an exclusive problem of evil dead: the game. Asymmetric games, by design, have a team that will probably feel stronger than the other, and in this case, they turn out to be the survivors. It seems irrazonable to expect you to know interactive this problem where no other game has achieved its exactly correct balance (can you even do that in an asymmetric game?) But it is not so far from reality as to dissuade players to choose one side or The other given that there are multiple paths towards victory according to your style of play.
Another victory for Evil Dead: The game is that it is one of the few adaptations that really made me want to visit the original material again. After being familiar with The bad death but not so much the other spin-offs and sequelae from which the game is extracted, _mal dead: the game, with their challenges for a player and his solid cast of characters, channels the atmosphere well and the Campism of the Evil Dead series. An unequivocal factor of that success is the fact that Bruce Campbell himself expressed his many variants of Ash, but even if you do not play like them, Jim Pirri as Professor Knowby offers an excellent narration for each team of survivors.
Evil Dead: The game However, it makes some questionable decisions regarding the basic expectations for the characteristics and systems of the game. The super balancing of the demon camera when it is in the form of spirit is a good wink to the material of origin, but does not translate well into the game and, often, is more frustrating than entertaining. Having to stop the movement completely to open a map or the communication wheel in a game as agitated as this is also a total error, one that is disconcerting enough to rectify in a future update. The game is clearly inspired by the day in the daylight of the blood points progression system, it also found a way to complicate it perhaps unnecessarily with the character's specific skill trees.
Despite its dental edges, evil dead: the game remains one of the most pleasant surprises of this year so far. Complaints pass to the background when you have a survivor and use it against your team or break a deadite with a chainsaw and even with some movement problems in both teams, each game develops relatively well. If I know interactive, it remains up to date with the comments of the community and offers more DLC in the future, evil dead: the game could be solidified as one of the truly large asymmetric horror experiences.
